How YOU can master your Speech
The skill of Speech could change your life...
Having an outstanding level of speech
is one of the best return-on-investment skills you could ever learn.
Because unlike most skills,
it will impact every single part of your life.
The sad part is that most people are so bad at it, and they don’t even realize it.
Speaking can help you in many ways.
Just think for yourself: How could speaking help you improve your life right now?
For example, at a part-time job, the skill of speaking could make you sound more confident and respectful when talking to customers.
If you're leading at school or a sports club you’ll need to speak with conviction.
This could even be talking to that girl; speaking with confidence will make it so much easier.
I could keep going…
The benefits are endless…
But just think about how this could also help you in the future.
If you’re going for a job you want that could change your life forever if you’re a flawless speaker and have a way with your words that’ll impress them like crazy, you’ll get hired then and there.
If you keep doing whatever sport you truly love, you’ll get to a point where you’ll be interviewed on TV and speak with no nerves, just pure passion and confidence, and you will impress everyone.
Speaking can help you in many ways, and these are just some ways it can help you now and in the future.
The possibilities are infinite…
But the crazy part is that most people fail because they reach an age when they think they can talk fine and never consider improving their speech again.
When do you usually learn to speak correctly?
Around ages 5-7 is when you can speak like everyone else.
Well, that’s where most adult speaking levels are today, like a 5-year-old.
Because they can speak well enough to navigate themselves through life, and they have never thought to improve.
That’s where they are wrong,
Because
It’s actually very simple to improve your speaking skills.
These steps don’t take very long they just require you to be conscious about what you’re trying to improve.
These steps are simple,
but they do require you to step out of your comfort zone, which could be pushing the boundaries for some.
Steps 3-5 also require you to take notes. Let's get into it.
The 5 steps to drastically change your speech forever…
Step 1- Record a 5-minute video of yourself talking about anything.
(If you need any ideas, you can write 3 things down to bounce off of, Only 3.)
Step 2- Leave the video for 24 hours.
This is important because you’ll be looking/ reviewing it with a fresh mind. (And it’ll be less cringe)
Step 3- Auditory Audit
Once you’re back from your 24 hours, the first thing you’ll do is turn your device up, hit play, and don’t look; only listen.
You want to be mindful and take notes on these things-
Rate of Speech
Volume
Pitch & Melody
Tonality
Pause
Take notes on these things when listening so you can improve next time.
Step 4- Visual Audit
Now play the video back on mute and only watch yourself visually.
Write down notes about these things-
Posture
Hand Gestures
Facial Expressions
Movement
Eye Contact
Great!
Now you have your notes on the visual aspect of speaking as well!
Step 5- Non-Words & Filler Words
Now, get the video transcribed; this will give you a completely different perspective on your speech.
Once you’ve got it transcribed, highlight any non-words (The words you say to fill silence)
&
Filler Words (Words we use to fill silence)
This could be the “Ummmms”, & “EeeRrrrs,” & “SssooOooos”
Keep a list of the ones you say, and by having that list it’ll make you 10x better just being aware of it.
Now it’s very simple.
Try to be conscious of one aspect at a time, such as your posture, and simply repeat by recording another video.
This is how you get better at speaking, the real tactical steps that, if you do this, every day or week, will drastically change your life within just a couple of weeks or months.
So now go out, start practicing, and shortcut your way to success; you’ll be shocked what the possibilities your unmatched speaking ability can bring you!!!
